Future iPadOS apps may float automatically when a keyboard is connected.

According to a new leak, if a keyboard and trackpad are connected, iPadOS apps may become Quick Note-like floating windows instead of always opening full screen.

Since the iPad's introduction in 2010, every app has launched in full screen mode. Although there have been advances, such as Split View, all window management is still up to the user. According to a recent claim, this might alter.

Majin Bu, the leaker, does not provide any other information, other than the fact that the function is purportedly known internally at Apple as "Apple Mixer." Previously, Majin Bu was more renowned for hardware leaks, such as those involving the Apple Watch Series 7's size shift.

It's unclear if an already open app would recognise that the iPad was connected to a keyboard and then update. It's also unclear whether the switch to floating app windows is intended to work on all iPads.

If the applications remembered where the user had last positioned them, this may be a useful feature for 12.9-inch iPad Pro owners. It's less likely with the 8.3-inch iPad mini.
