The Xiaomi Mi Band series continues to be one of the top low-cost fitness trackers on the market. Now, a fresh rumour claims that the next edition, the Xiaomi Mi Band 7, may be just around the bend, offering some pleasant upgrades.

Xiaomi Mi Band 7: Leaked specs

Let's get started with some gear. For starters, consumers can expect a bigger, higher-resolution display than the predecessor. While the Mi Band 6 has a 1.56-inch 152 x 486 display, the Mi Band 7 might have a 192 x 490 display. Notably, the leak did not reveal the physical dimensions of the screen.

Aside from the display, the source suggests that the Mi Band 7 will have built-in GPS functionality, making it a potential hit with runners. Historically, the line has solely supported linked GPS. However, built-in GPS would significantly reduce the Mi Band 7's battery life. It's uncertain if Xiaomi would agree to such a deal.

In terms of battery life, the Mi Band 7 may include a power saving mode that disables sensors, notifications, and other power-draining features to maximise endurance. The power consumption of the Mi Band series isn't anything to be ashamed of, but a more efficient mode would be a welcome addition.

Notably, other disclosed characteristics allude to future software enhancements. If the tracker detects light sleep, the Mi Band 7 might return a Smart Alarm function similar to Fitbit, which awakens the user before their alarm. This functionality would almost probably need enhanced sleep monitoring abilities. The Xiaomi Mi Band 7 might possibly get support for an always-on display, new fitness modes, a password function, and new watch faces.

When could it launch?

While this leak comes from a pretty credible source, we would advise against accepting the disclosed specifications as gospel. We have yet to see the Mi Band 7 in person.

When it comes to the debut date, the two prior models provide us some hints. The Mi Band 5 was released in China in June, whereas the Mi Band 6 was released in March.
