Clubhouse is introducing a new tool to improve platform user participation. The audio-chat app has begun testing a new 'Wave Bar' feature that will display online contacts and allow users to initiate a social room with them just by sending a wave. Friends of speakers can now join the chat using the latest capabilities. Wave Bar is comparable to Clubhouse's Wave function, which debuted in September of last year. Users can utilise the Wave function to virtually wave at pals to indicate that they are available for a private chat.

The testing of the new Wave Bar function was disclosed by Clubhouse on Thursday. As previously indicated, users can use the Wave Bar at the top of the screen to see who is online and invite them to chat by waving. Speakers in the social room can use the new ping bar at the top of the room to ping in friends. For those who prefer to keep their chats private, Clubhouse offers the option to lock the room. Starting Friday, the Wave Bar experiment will be available to a select group of Android and iOS users.

Wave Bar is experimenting in response to Clubhouse's efforts to integrate text-based communication into the platform. It recently added the ability to communicate in audio rooms rather than text. In-Room Chat is the name given to a type of chat that takes place in a Within a live room, the feature includes a text chat space. On the social audio platform, Clubhouse has added support for 13 new languages.

As previously reported, Clubhouse introduced a feature in September of last year that allows users to digitally wave at pals inside its audio-only chat app to indicate that they are available for a private conversation. When someone accepts the wave, a private audio chat room will appear. To compete directly with social media heavyweights like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter Spaces, it has been actively adding numerous new features to the platform.
