Apple will soon mandate that all apps made for its platforms use Xcode 13, the most recent version of the company's developer tools.

In a Tuesday update, the Cupertino tech behemoth informed developers that Xcode 13 will be required for App Store submissions beginning Monday, April 25.

"Take advantage of the new capabilities in iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and watchOS 8 to provide even more straightforward and useful user experiences," Apple noted in the update. "Refactoring your code to use asynchronous functions in Swift will improve the speed of your project. And, with the most recent SwiftUI improvements, you can add new features to your apps, such as enhanced list views, improved search experiences, and support for control focus areas."

While Xcode 13 programmes will be needed, the latest version of the SDK will still support earlier Apple products such as iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and macOS Big Sur.

Apple is presently using Xcode 13.3, which was published on Monday along with iOS 15.4, iPadOS 15.5, and other upgrades on March 14. The previous version of Xcode, 13.2, was launched in December and caused some problems for developers before being fixed.
