Apple's online shop is down ahead of pre-orders for the iPad Air and iPhone SE, which open at 5:00 a.m. Pacific Time in the United States.

The new iPhone SE has the same 4.7-inch display as the previous generation, but it now has the strongest glass in a smartphone on the front and back – the same as the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro.

Deep Fusion, Photographic Styles, Portrait Mode, and Smart HDR 4 are among the upgrades and computational photography technologies offered by the device's new 12MP Wide camera system.

The new iPhone SE is powered by the same A15 Bionic technology as the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro. The A15 Bionic's 6-core CPU ensures that the iPhone SE is 1.8x quicker than the iPhone 8. The 16-core Neural Engine, designed for machine learning activities, can conduct 15.8 trillion operations per second, making it 26 times quicker than the iPhone 8. The 4-core GPU is 2.2 times quicker than the iPhone 8.

Despite its small size and 5G connection, the A15 Bionic delivers the new iPhone SE a longer battery life than previous-generation and older 4.7-inch iPhone models. It continues to offer rapid charging and is wireless charging compatible with Qi-certified chargers.

The new iPhone SE comes in two additional colours, Midnight and Starlight, in addition to PRODUCT (RED). The new iPhone SE costs $429, up from $399 for the 2020 model, and comes with 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB of storage. Preorders will begin on March 11, with the first gadgets coming on March 18.

The new iPad Air comes in a variety of new colours and has Apple's Ultra Wide front camera with Center Stage for a more natural video conferencing experience, a USB-C connector with up to 2x quicker transfer rates, and 5G on cellular variants.

In terms of pure speed, the 8-core CPU provides up to 60% quicker performance, while the 8-core GPU provides up to 2x faster graphics performance than the previous iPad Air. According to Apple, this makes it quicker than the fastest competing tablet and twice as fast as the best-selling Windows laptop in its price category.

The USB-C connector is now up to two times faster than the previous generation, with data transfers of up to ten gigabits per second, allowing it to accommodate a wide range of USB-C peripherals, including cameras, external storage, and displays with up to 6K resolution. Finally, the new iPad Air is compatible with the second-generation Apple Pencil.

The new iPad Air is priced starting at $599. It is available in 64GB and 256GB capacities, as well as space grey, starlight, pink, purple, and blue colour options. The new iPad Air will be available for pre-order on Friday, March 11, and will ship on March 18.
