Apple is preparing to release the next-generation iPhone 14 series, which will include significant modifications to the smartphone's look as well as its functionality.
While the Apple iPhone 14 series has yet to be officially announced, rumours regarding the company's next lineup have leaked online, showing that the predicted Touch ID functionality for the iPhone will not be available anytime soon.
Apple was awarded a patent for an under-display fingerprint reader last month, sparking suspicion that future iPhone models may have under-display Touch ID.
Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple analyst, predicted earlier this year that the firm will release an iPhone with an under-display Touch ID in 2023, but he now believes it won't happen.
He predicts that the next two smartphone models, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16, which will be released in 2023 and 2024, will not feature under-display fingerprint sensor compatibility, and that Face ID will be the sole biometric option to unlock the device.
In terms of key modifications this year, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max ditch the notch on top of the screen in favour of a pill-shaped cutout. The camera sensor will also be upgraded from 12MP to 48MP.
It is also said that the business is attempting to drastically differentiate the non-Pro and Pro variants of the Apple iPhone 14 series in terms of specs. According to sources, four versions will be released this year: the iPhone 14, 14 Max, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max. To find out exactly what the gadgets have to offer, we'll have to wait till the formal debut later this year.
