According to well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple's 2022 MacBook Air will include a new form factor and extra colour options, and might be available by the third quarter of the year.

According to Kuo, the forthcoming MacBook Air might enter full production in the second or third quarter of 2022. He stated that the chip would not include a small LED display, but that the gadget will have an M1 chip.

Previous speculations about the upcoming MacBook Air stated that it might have a new form factor more akin to current MacBook Pro models rather than the Air's tapered-off look. More colour possibilities, as well as a slimmer and lighter overall footprint, have previously been rumoured.

Interestingly, recent evidence shows that the smartphone would use a "M2" chipset rather than an M1, as Kuo predicted here. It's unclear if Kuo means that Apple would employ an earlier M1 processor or that the MacBook Air will operate on Apple silicon.

It's unclear when a new MacBook Air will be released, although Apple might do it during one of its keynotes later in 2022, such as WWDC or its autumn media events. The MacBook Air was last updated by Apple in 2020, when it received an M1 processor and other improvements.
