vivo said today that it will hold its next product launch event in China on April 11, when it will unveil its first foldable phone, the vivo X Fold. In the meantime, the company's product vice president has revealed some intriguing details about the development of the impending foldable.

The CEO stated in a social media post (via IT Home) that vivo has been working on the X Fold for four years, with hundreds of concepts abandoned and recreated until the right one was reached. He considers the "screen" of the folding screen to be the most important aspect. The screen experience cannot be compromised due to the folding form, which is why the crease has to be removed.

"The inner screen must be broad and excellent enough, and the look and feel must not be harmed by the constant deepening of the creases caused by repeated opening and shutting for an extended period of time." The outside screen is also often utilised, and its size and impact must be at the flagship level."

"Problems such as frame control and colour discrepancy cannot occur while switching between internal and exterior screens." This entails screen selection, adjustability, and, in particular, hinge technology, which is a highly difficult system engineering," he continued.

He also said that because vivo is the pioneer of under-screen fingerprints, he couldn't abandon the technology with the foldable smartphone and worked tirelessly to overcome the challenges involved. As a consequence, the industry's first dual under-screen fingerprint design features sensors on both the cover and inner panels.

The vivo spring product launch event is expected to be one of the most significant for the firm this year, with products like as the vivo X Note and the vivo Pad joining the vivo X Note. The vivo X80 series smartphones may also have their covers lifted.
