The Black Shark 5 series is likely to be released shortly; Xiaomi typically releases its first gaming phones of the year in March. Two gadgets, allegedly the Black Shark 5 and Black Shark 5 Pro, have surfaced on TENAA, disclosing critical specifications and characteristics.
The most significant upgrade will be a new processor for the Pro model, as well as an improved primary camera.
The model number of the Black Shark 5 Pro is KTUS-A0, and while TENAA does not reveal the exact chipset, the 3.0GHz CPU is most likely from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. RAM is available in 8/12/16 GB increments, with storage options of 256GB or 512GB.
We anticipate a 108MP primary camera, with a 13MP front-facing camera, which is significantly lower than the Black Shark 4's 20MP camera. The battery has a capacity of 4,650mAh, and we expect it to maintain the 120W rapid charging of its predecessors.
The Black Shark 5 is touted as having a 3.2 GHz CPU, which is almost certainly the year-old Snapdragon 870 chipset. It has a 64MP primary camera and 8GB or 12GB of RAM.
Storage is once again 128GB or 256GB, and the battery size (4,650mAh) is split across the forthcoming phones.
The phones have yet to be released, and we hope to hear more about Tencent's involvement with the gaming brand following the acquisition in January during the event.
