HIGHLIGHTS

  • Spotify has yet to enter the Web3 market.
  • The application procedure for Spotify is now open.
  • The new hire will work on Web3 projects.
Spotify is searching for a senior-level engineer to work on emerging technologies such as Web3. Web3, billed as the next phase of the Internet, will rely heavily on blockchain technology. Spotify is interested in exploring the Web3 domain, particularly at a time when its components such as the metaverse and NFTs are seeing widespread acceptance and raking in billions of dollars from fans. Spotify has not yet associated its brand with any aspect of the Web3 realm.

The new hire will be a member of Spotify's experimental growth team. One of the chosen candidate's key focus areas will be to employ Web3 components to plan out the next significant step for the music streaming behemoth.

"You will support cooperation with product, insights, and design to find the next growth opportunity utilising emerging technologies, such as Web3," according to Spotify's LinkedIn job.

Experience guiding explorations and developing innovative products was requested in the job posting

According to Statista, 381 million monthly active users (MAUs) worldwide streamed music or podcasts on Spotify in the third quarter of 2021.

Given that worldwide music artists such as Travis Scott, Justin Bieber, Marshmello, and Ariana Grande have recently performed in the metaverse, it seems reasonable for Spotify to investigate Web3 efforts.

However, Spotify is not the only well-known business attempting to enter the Web3 area.

YouTube is looking for a project management director to create and lead its Web3 strategy and incorporate aspects like non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and the metaverse into its platform, which is utilised by over two billion people globally.

T-Series, an Indian music company, has also just announced its entry into the metaverse in collaboration with Hungama Digital to develop NFTs from its large collection of new and current Bollywood material.

Microsoft just posted a similar job opening as well. Earlier this month, the software giant advertised for a Director of Business Development - Cryptocurrencies, and the application process was completed in three days.
