- The first stable Expert RAW app has been released for the Samsung Galaxy S22 devices.
- The app will be made available to certain high-end models by the corporation.
- On February 9, the Samsung Galaxy S22 series was introduced.
Earlier this month, Samsung revealed in a community forum post (in Korean) that on February 25, it will add support for its Expert RAW software for the Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra devices. According to the company's release timetable, these devices will be the first to receive the app's stable version.
On select models, Samsung already has a Pro mode in its camera software for the primary and ultra-wide angle cameras, but the Expert RAW option adds additional capability on compatible devices, allowing the capture of RAW photographs from the telephoto camera. Users will also have access to complete manual camera adjustments. Users will be able to save photographs in JPEG and Linear DNG 16-bit RAW formats using the Expert RAW programme. After that, the files may be loaded into Adobe Lightroom for editing and exporting.
Meanwhile, owners of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra will not have to wait long, since the app will be available in early March. According to Samsung, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have Expert RAW support in April, while the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy S20 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Fold 2 devices will get it later in the first half of 2022. According to Samsung, several models, including the Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy Note 20, will not support the app owing to a lack of Bayer RAW output from the telephoto camera on these handsets.
