JerryRigEverything, a YouTube channel, put the OnePlus 10 Pro — the Chinese company's latest flagship — through a durability test to determine the phone's resistance. The OnePlus phone was put through a series of rigorous rounds, including scratches and a bend test. While the OnePlus 10 Pro passed the scratch test like any other premium phone, it failed the bend test and literally snapped in half.

The scratch test is the first part of Zack Nelson's over ten-minute video on his YouTube channel JerryRigEverything. The Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on the OnePlus 10 Pro is further protected by a screen protector.

However, at Mohs hardness level six, those weren't enough to withstand scratches. At level seven, the phone began to develop deeper grooves. This is similar to most flagship phones, such as the Pixel 6 Pro and even the OnePlus 9 Pro from last year.

Despite some deep scratches, the OnePlus 10 Pro in the video continued to recognise touch inputs. With the scratches, the in-display fingerprint sensor worked perfectly.

The YouTuber also burned the display with a lighter as part of the durability test. The AMOLED screen was toasted and left a permanent mark after about 40 seconds of continuous burning.

The OnePlus phone lacks an ingress protection (IP) rating, but Nelson demonstrated in his video that the SIM tray has a gasket that provides some water resistance.

The metal frame used by OnePlus does not retain the paint after being scratched with a razor blade. A frosted glass cover with a textured design also covers the phone's back. It can withstand scratches to some extent, but it is prone to cracking.

The OnePlus 10 Pro's frame and glass back were not strong enough to pass the bend test, according to the JerryRigEverything channel's video.

When the OnePlus 10 Pro was bent from the middle, it snapped in half. When the phone breaks, it becomes unresponsive.

"I'm not a structural engineer," Nelson said in the video, "but it appears to me that the lack of structure contributed to the rapid unplanned disassembly."

Of course, the phone was subjected to extreme conditions during the bend test, but the structural flaws may have an impact on the OnePlus 10 Pro if it's kept in a back pocket. However, it is hoped that it will not be as bad as the iPhone 6 Plus, which caused the 'bendgate' controversy in the past.

The OnePlus 10 Pro has yet to be released in other countries, and it is currently only available in China.
