Nvidia, a chipmaker based in the United States, announced on Friday that it was investigating a suspected cyberattack, following a news report that stated the attack may have taken portions of its company offline for two days.

The Telegraph reported earlier on Friday that a hostile network attack caused interruptions in Nvidia's email systems and developer tools during the previous two days, although it remained unclear whether any data was taken or erased.

"We're looking into an event. Our commercial and business operations continue unabated "Nvidia made the announcement in a statement.

"At this point, we don't have any more information to give because we are still evaluating the nature and breadth of the occurrence."

In late-afternoon trading, the company's shares lost 0.7 percent of their gains.

Nvidia is the most valuable chipmaker in the United States, with a market valuation of almost $600 billion (approximately Rs. 45,033,24 crore). It is well-known for its graphics processing units (GPU), which improve videogaming and complicated computer simulations.
