On Thursday, February 17, the Nubia Red Magic 7 series, which comprises the Red Magic 7 and Red Magic 7 Pro gaming smartphones, was unveiled in China. Both smartphones offer comparable characteristics, with the exception that the Pro edition has some more features and horsepower behind the hood. The phones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoCs, have 6.8-inch AMOLED screens, and have triple back cameras with 64-megapixel resolution. The Pro edition adds an under-display front camera, a Red Core 1 specialised gaming CPU, and a higher refresh rate to the display than the non-pro variant.

Specifications for the Nubia Red Magic 7 and Red Magic 7 Pro

Nubia Red Magic 7 and Red Magic 7 Pro are now available in Dark Knight, Cyber Neon, and Deuterium Blade Transparent Editions (translated).

The Nubia Red Magic 7 Dark Knight Edition with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage costs CNY 3,899 in China (roughly Rs. 46,100). The Dark Knight Edition and Cyber Neon colour variants in 12GB RAM + 128GB storage configuration cost CNY 4,399 (about Rs. 52,000), while the 12GB + 256GB model costs CNY 4,799 (approximately Rs. 52,000). The Red Magic 7 Deuterium Blade Transparent Edition with 12GB + 256GB configuration costs CNY 4,899 (about Rs. 58,000), while the 12GB + 512GB variant costs CNY 5,499 (approximately Rs. 58,000). (roughly Rs. 65,100). The phone is already available for pre-order in China, and the inaugural sale will take place on February 21.

Specifications for the Nubia Red Magic 7

The Nubia Red Magic 7 is powered by Red Magic 5.0, which is based on Android 12. The smartphone has a 6.8-inch AMOLED full-HD+ (1,080x2,400 pixel) display with a 20:9 aspect ratio, 600 nits of peak brightness, a sampling rate of 720Hz, and a refresh rate of 165Hz. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, which is combined with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. To improve overall performance, the smartphone has received some additional adjustments such as Arc Performance Enhancement System, Magic Write, RAM Boost, and Magic GPU image enhancement (translated).

An ICE 8.0 cooling system with an RGB fan operating at 20,000 rpm, a "canyon air duct" with double air intake design, and an aerospace-grade heat dissipation system is also available (translated).

The Nubia Red Magic 7 has a triple back camera arrangement for photography, led by a 64-megapixel main sensor. In addition, there is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. An 8-megapixel camera on the front is used for selfies and video calls.

The Nubia Red Magic 7 supports UFS 3.1 storage up to 512GB. It has a 4,500mAh battery and supports 120W rapid charging. According to the manufacturer, the phone can be completely charged in 17 minutes and comes with a 165W GaN charger. The phone has USB Type-C, Bluetooth v5.2, Wi-Fi 6, dual stereo speakers, and a 3.5 mm headphone port for connectivity. Onboard sensors include an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and compass. The phone's dimensions are 107.57x78.33x9.5mm and it weighs 215 grammes.

Specifications for the Nubia Red Magic 7 Pro

In terms of display, processor, and back camera, the Nubia Red Magic 7 Pro and the Nubia Red Magic 7 share several specs. The pro model's display has a sampling rate of 960Hz and a refresh rate of 120Hz.

Its Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC is combined with a specific gaming CPU, the Red Core 1, to handle gaming-related functions such better shoulder triggers, a low reaction rate (7.4ms), sound, vibration, and lighting effects. It receives an ICE 9.0 cooling system with an RGB fan operating at 20,000 rpm, a "canyon air duct" with double air intake design, a front metal heat sink, and VC cooling with a 4,124mm heat dissipation surface (translated). The device has up to 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM.

The Nubia Red Magic 7 Pro has the same triple back camera system as the non-Pro model for photography. There is, however, a 16-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video chats. This camera is located beneath the display and employs a tripod-shaped pixel arrangement and a wave-shaped electrode (translated) to maintain a high degree of transparency.

The Nubia Red Magic 7 Pro comes with up to 1TB of UFS 3.1 storage. It has a 5,000mAh battery and supports 135W rapid charging. According to the manufacturer, the phone can be completely charged in 15 minutes and comes with a 165W GaN charger. The phone has USB Type-C, Bluetooth v5.2, Wi-Fi 6, dual stereo speakers, and a 3.5 mm headphone port for connectivity. Onboard sensors include an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a proximity sensor, and a compass. The phone's dimensions are 166.27x77.1x9.98mm and it weighs 235 grammes.
