According to an International Data Corporation (IDC) study, while HP was the overall market leader in terms of PC sales in India, Dell was in second place with a 23.6 percent market share, shipping over 1 million units for the second consecutive quarter in Q4 2021. According to the research, Dell dominated the enterprise market with a 38 percent share, owing to increased demand from IT and ITES (Information Technology Enabled Services) and the company's worldwide clients.
Lenovo remained in third place in both the fourth quarter of 2021 and the calendar year of 2021, with a year-on-year increase of 22.8 percent. According to IDC's research, Lenovo was in second position, trailing HP with a market share of 24.7 percent, due to demand from the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) category, with supply restrictions affecting the company's overall shipments.
Acer and Asus remained in fourth and fifth place, with market shares of 8.2 and 5.9 percent, respectively. According to the research, Acer was one of the primary benefactors of the desktop category's revival. Thanks to Acer's established commercial desktop business, it ranked second after HP in the commercial category with a market share of 25.8 percent. Meanwhile, according to the IDC research, Asus increased 36.1 percent year on year in 2021, making inroads into the commercial category with a massive 227.2 percent year on year growth.
