HIGHLIGHTS
- The audience will be able to report remarks.
- The new function is comparable to Skype's, and Zoom Clubhouse just added support for 13 more languages.
In a blog post, Clubhouse stated that the platform wants everyone to be able to participate in live discussions, whether by voice or text. The new tool, called In-Room Chat, is similar to what Skype and Zoom provide – a text chat section within a live room.
Moderators of voice rooms will be allowed to delete chat messages, and creators will be able to deactivate text chat when creating a new room. The audience will also be able to report remarks and offer input to the moderators. This will assist to ensure that text chat is a safe environment. However, this presents a hurdle because policing comments in rooms with hundreds or thousands of people would undoubtedly be difficult.
For rooms that have the in-Room Chat functionality activated, there will be a dedicated icon at the bottom left of the screen. After the live audio session has concluded, anyone listening to the room's replay may read all of the messages exchanged during the session. Clubhouse also hopes that the new function will assist designers in conducting fast surveys or sourcing queries in a live chat with people.
In January 2022, Clubhouse extended its platform to the Web, allowing anybody to listen in on a live discussion. It is not necessary for listeners to have the Clubhouse app installed on their devices or to be logged in to the platform. Separately, Clubhouse is developing a feature that will allow users to broadcast sessions they are attending on the app on any social media network or messaging app.
Clubhouse added 13 more languages to its social audio platform in December 2021, bringing the total number of local languages it supports to 26. Arabic, Bengali, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Farsi/Persian, Hausa, Igbo, Marathi, Nepali, Somali, Thai, Turkish, and Yoruba were among the languages represented. Users who want to utilise a language-specific version of Clubhouse may now do so.
