iPhone 14 design
The iPhone 12 underwent a substantial revamp, and while Apple normally maintains a design in place for three years, it may deviate from that pattern. The iPhone 14 is likely to be a small update, at least in certain aspects, compared to the iPhone 13. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the iPhone 14 will feature a whole new design. We've heard a lot of rumours about the device's notch. Earlier speculations stated that the iPhone will have a pill-shaped cutout for the front-facing camera and Face ID sensors, but current rumours indicate that there would be two cutouts. A concept created by YouTuber "the Hacker 34" depicts what this may look like.
According to leaker Jon Prosser, at least one iPhone 14 model will include a hole-punch cutout for the front-facing camera in instead of the notch. It's unclear if that design will be exclusive to "Pro" variants or also available on ordinary devices. According to Prosser, the Pro versions will include Face ID technology built into the display. Mark Gurman has confirmed the rumour, claiming that some iPhone 14 versions would include a hole-punch cutout for the front-facing camera.
This is backed up by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who believes Apple may ultimately do away with the notch entirely, at least on higher-end Pro models.
The rear of the phone may also be somewhat different. According to Prosser's source, the Pro versions would include a flush camera array, which will eliminate the big camera bulge found on current iPhone models. Around the borders, the phone might feature circular volume controls similar to those found on the iPhone 4. There will very certainly still be a Lightning connector on the bottom of the gadget.
Other minor changes are possible. Apple has been playing with colours more recently, and the next smartphone may have a one-of-a-kind hue or two. Furthermore, the camera configuration may change – it did for the iPhone 13, and it may change again in 2022. According to a JP Morgan Chase investor letter, Apple will construct the Pro versions out of a titanium alloy, which will make them stronger than previous-generation devices.
Apple may potentially alter the iPhone range. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will discontinue the "Mini" model and only sell two sizes — 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches. This may still allow Apple to offer four iPhones. So there may be an iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max, for example.
All of these rumours should be taken with a grain of salt. The iPhone 14 won't be released for another year, and the design is still subject to change.
iPhone 14 specs
The smartphone will most likely be a spec upgrade over the iPhone 13. While the iPhone 13 has an Apple-designed A15 Bionic processor, the next-generation smartphone will use an A16.
The A16 was originally expected to be manufactured using a 3nm technology, however Seeking Alpha says that TSMC has acknowledged a delay in 3nm chip manufacturing. To put it another way, the 3nm technique may not be accessible in an iPhone until the iPhone 15. If not, the iPhone 14 may still have a 4nm CPU, which should provide a performance gain over the iPhone 13's 5nm chip.
It's also feasible that the phone may receive some additional RAM. Apple does not disclose how much RAM is included in their iPhones. Extra RAM, on the other hand, would allow the phone to continue to be effective at multitasking and better accommodate bigger apps and games.
Apple may potentially include a new 5G processor in the iPhone. According to speculations, Apple is planning to replace Samsung's 5G processors with new TSMC 5G chips. This may have an influence on 5G performance, but maybe more importantly, it may assist increase battery life.
iPhone 14 display
The iPhone 13 Pro versions now include ProMotion, or a 120Hz refresh rate, which is the most significant update to the iPhone's display in years. While early rumours suggested that the technology would be available on ordinary devices as well, current information from display analyst Ross Young suggests that ProMotion will only be available on iPhone 14 Pro models. According to The Elec, both Samsung and LG may supply screens for the iPhone 14 series.
Apple may also begin to improve the iPhone's display resolution. Most high-end phones have at least 1,440p screens, however the iPhone 12 still has a 1,170p display.
Touch ID on the iPhone may also make a reappearance with the 2022 iPhone. According to reports, Apple intends to include in-display fingerprint sensors to the iPhone series. Early reports stated that the technology will be available on the iPhone 13, however this did not happen. According to recent reports, it will most likely arrive to the iPhone 14 instead.
iPhone 14 camera
The camera on the iPhone 14 will almost certainly be improved. Apple extended the bigger sensor seen in the iPhone 12 Pro Max to lower-end devices for the iPhone 13 series. So, what is Apple likely to do in 2022? According to the most current speculations, Apple will include a 48-megapixel primary camera with 8K video recording in the iPhone. The rumour comes from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who also mentioned that the iPhone 15 series may have a periscope lens.
It's highly feasible that Apple may include more cameras in the iPhone 14 series. Some smartphone manufacturers, such as Samsung, have included quad camera systems in their high-end models. Apple could do the same thing. Perhaps a third camera will be added to the lower-end devices, and a fourth to the Pro model.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the gadget may sport 48-megapixel primary cameras, far higher quality than current versions' 12-megapixel shooters.
iPhone 14 release date
The iPhone 13 was recently introduced, thus the iPhone 14 will most likely be released in around a year. Apple generally releases new iPhone models in September, and we don't see that changing anytime soon. As a result, the series might premiere in September 2022.
But what about the cost? So, if Apple discontinues the "Mini" gadget while maintaining the ordinary phone's cost, we might have one iPhone for every $100 increment from $800 to $1,100. In other words, the iPhone 14 may cost $800, the iPhone 14 Max might cost $900, the iPhone 14 Pro might cost $1,000, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max might cost $1,100. We'll have to wait and see if that turns out to be the case - these costs are based on solely on speculation.
