Authorized Apple service specialists may be able to perform Face ID repairs on iPhone XS and subsequent phones without replacing the complete phone.
According to MacRumors, Apple may soon offer Apple Stores and Apple-authorized service providers access to a new TrueDepth Camera service component that includes Face ID and front camera modules. As a consequence, instead of replacing the device, shops and authorised providers will do same-unit repairs when a phone has Face ID difficulties.
According to an internal document from Apple, the change will minimise the carbon footprint of its products by reducing the frequency of whole-unit repairs. If this occurs, owners of iPhone XS devices and subsequent will not need to set up a new iPhone and potentially lose data just because of a Face ID issue.
It is unclear when this new repair procedure will be introduced. The corporation has simply informed technicians that training and paperwork would be provided at a later date.
The announcement comes only a few months after Apple introduced the new Self Service Repair programme, which might also make repairs easier. Apple will use the programme to teach consumers how to repair their smartphones at home while also providing them the necessary parts and equipment. When customers return their discarded components after repairing their devices, they will also earn recycling credit.
Apple stated that the Self Service Repair service will debut in the United States early this year and subsequently spread to other nations.
